Civil Defence approves fire safety system on Green Line

Dubai:Dubai Civil Defence has approved the fire protection system's readiness at all stations and installations of Dubai Metro's Green Line.

Services on the Green Line are scheduled to commence this September.

A joint team of Dubai Civil Defence and Trains Establishment met recently to review the fire safety system at designated stations and installations on the Green Line.

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence, said the Civil Defence had appointed a permanent member to the executive committees that were tasked with choosing the fire protection systems and devices on the Metro, according to highest international standards.

Advisory plans

Major Jamal Ahmad, Director of Safety and Prevention, said the safety level evaluation carried out on the Green Line passed through a number of phases and included reviewing of the project's basic prints and studying them along with the advisory plans.

He also added that a methodical inspection plan was undertaken at every level, including surprise visits to the Green Line establishments during holidays and official occasions since the beginning of this year.

Baha Al Deen Mohammad Abdul Aal, Director of Trains Establishment, said the Green Line has the added bonus of connecting old and new Dubai, and that the stations were designed according to Dubai's environment and basic elements.
