Aster Of DM Healthcare Debuts In Sharjah, Opens New Medical Centre With Multi Specialty Capabilities

The Aster brand of DM Healthcare, West Asia’s largest healthcare conglomerate today announced its debut into Sharjah, opening its first medical centre in the emirate with multispecialty capabilities as part of the Group’s drive to reach out to more communities in the UAE with its cutting edge health care proposition.
The new Aster Medical Centre on King Faisal Street was officially inaugurated by the veteran Indian play back singer Padma Bhushan K. J Yesudas in the presence of Padma Shri Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman of DM Healthcare, various dignitaries from the Government of Sharjah, Ministry of Health and senior representatives of the Group.
Commenting on the new initiative, Dr. Azad Moopen, said: “This is a landmark expansion for the Group as well as for the Aster chain of medical centres – it is one of the many steps we are taking as part of our desire to be closer to the community. We are confident that the new medical centre is a welcome development for Sharjah residents who would be able to avail our cutting-edge healthcare services.”
Along with the Aster Medical Centre in Sharjah, the Group has also opened an Aster pharmacy in line with the DM Healthcare vision of providing end-to-end medical and support facilities to the community.
“As a holistic healthcare entity, our strategy is to provide healthcare services and medical facilities across the spectrum in close proximity to the community we serve. In the last few years, Aster brand of medical centres has grown its reputation and visibility many folds thanks to our Group philosophy of providing care to the needy with a professional passion, respect and love,” said Dr. Moopen, Chairman, DM Healthcare.
The Aster Medical Centre, Sharjah will initially start with six departments headed by senior medical professionals offering services in general medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, dentistry, pathology and radiology. The medical centre offers complete Laboratory and Radiology services and an attached ASTER Pharmacy.
Mr. TJ Wilson, Group Director – Finance & Administration, DM Healthcare, said: “The new Aster Medical Centre is part of our plan to cater to the needs of the residents of Northern Emirates and is a significant step in our corporate expansion strategy for the Aster brand. The opening of the new medical centre will also lead to the initiation of Sharjah-specific community good health programmes by DM Healthcare. “We are acknowledged across the UAE and the region for our philanthropic initiatives as part of bringing affordable healthcare to the needy. These endeavours have brought us widespread recognition across communities and such activities will be rolled out in Sharjah also as part of our community interaction programmes,” he said.
DM Healthcare has two brands under its portfolio – Aster and MedCare. The Group has its footprints across the Gulf countries through a chain of around 125 entities across the healthcare value chain comprising hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres and pharmacies. The healthcare chain employs some 2,000 people and caters to approximately 12,000 patients a day in Gulf. Across India and the Gulf countries, DM Healthcare plans to expand its healthcare chain to 300 units by year 2015.
