Abu Dhabi: Thousands of worshippers attended the special prayers on Good Friday at the churches across the UAE yesterday.
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary.
The Christian expatriates in the country have been devoting more time for prayers since the beginning of the Holy Week last Sunday. Most of the churches have been receiving more worshippers during the week.
The last part of the Holy Week is very important with three special occasions — Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Services
Maundy Thursday commemorates the last supper of Jesus with the apostles. Easter will be celebrated tomorrow.
Churches started conducting special services since Maundy Thursday and will continue until Easter.
Although Easter falls on Sunday, most of the Churches are conducting their special prayers today for the convenience of worshippers as Sunday is a working day in the UAE.
