Beirut, 24 June 2011 (WAM) - Participants at the ESCWA expert group meeting on promoting the empowerment of women have voiced their appreciation to the Arab women media strategy initiative launched by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU) and Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation.

They called for employing the media strategy framework as a pilot for developing national media strategies that will serve issues relating to women empowerment.

Dr Mohammed Al Mansour, Advisor of the GWU, and Dr Mohammed Ayesh, Media Advisor of the National Media Council, took part in the meeting.
