Al Ain: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the UAE’s support during his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Essam Sharaf at Al Rawda Palace in Al Ain on Monday.
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was present.
“The UAE-Egypt relations have always been a model for brotherly relations in various circumstances, and the regional and international political scenes,” said Shaikh Khalifa.
These relations are built on historical and bilateral relations between both countries and people.
“Changes in the political arena in Egypt would boost the confidence and optimism about Egypt's faithful people to perpetuate its leading and pivotal role both on regional and international levels, and will embody at the same time the strategic depth between the fraternal countries in the Arab world,” added Shaikh Khalifa.
Egypt's critical phase
Shaikh Khalifa expressed his wishes for Egypt to overcome this critical phase of its history with determination and resolve in order to regain its position among other countries in the region and the world.
Shaikh Khalifa said that the UAE leadership, government and people will continue to support the Egyptian leadership and people in all matters due to the UAE’s strong belief in the important role and strategic position of Egypt in creating a regional and international balance in area.
Confidence in bilateral relations
Dr. Essam Sharaf said that he was happy to meet Shaikh Khalifa. He pointed out that his visit to the UAE emphasizes the bilateral relations, gratitude and respect that the Egyptian leadership and government has for the UAE.
Sharaf expressed his confidence that the bilateral relations between both countries will grow stronger in all fields during the upcoming phase of Egyptian history that is rich with the unwavering and brotherly stances that the UAE has taken with Egypt.
Other discussions
During the meeting, they also discussed political developments in Egypt, and discussed the distinguished bilateral relations between both countries. Shaikh Khalifa and Saharf also exchanged views on regional and international developments, and issues of mutual concerns.
Present at the meeting
Also present during the meeting were Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and other Shaikhs and senior officials.
Dr. Sharaf is accompanied by a high level delegation that includes Mohammad Al Orabi, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Samir Radhwan, Minister of Finance, Fayzeh Abu Al Naja, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and a number of senior officials.
Upon arrival, Dr. Sharaf and his delegation were received at the airport by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Tamer Mansour, Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, and other officials.
