High scores for UAE students in ICSE, ISC exams

Dubai: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations declared the results of the ICSE (grade ten) and ISC (grade 12) board examinations yesterday.

Dubai Modern High School (DMHS) and Progressive English School in Sharjah are the only two ICSE schools in the UAE from which students appeared for the board exams.

All the students who appeared for the exams from the two schools were declared to have passed.

The toppers in the country for both ICSE and ISC exams are Dubai Modern High School (DMHS) students.

High achievers

With a 98 per cent aggregate score, Jayanth Siddharth of DMHS became the UAE topper in the ICSE exam.

Anirudh Sivaram and Prathna Ramesh, also DMHS students, became the UAE toppers of the ISC exam for science and commerce streams respectively. Sivaram scored an aggregate of 97.25 per cent while Ramesh scored 97 per cent.

With 95.75 per cent, Pragya Kaul topped the humanities stream.

At the Progressive English School (PES) in Sharjah, school toppers in the ICSE exam are Keerthi Raj and Elzeba Susan Varghese with 93 per cent each. The ISC toppers of the school are Johina Maria John and Shruthi Sivadasan in the science stream with 93 per cent and Tania Feroz Mohammad in the commerce stream with 88.3 per cent.

At DMHS, 127 students wrote the tenth grade exams, out of which 54 per cent received over 90 per cent marks. Of the 109 students who sat the twelfth grade exams, 41 per cent received over 90 per cent.

At PES, 22 out of 26 science stream students who wrote the twelfth grade exams got distinctions (above 75 per cent). Eight of 12 commerce stream students also obtained distinctions.

Cultural contest

Students from over 20 leading Indian schools in the UAE competed in the first rounds of an interschool dance and music event titled etisalat Rangoli Festival.

Over 400 school children showcased their talent over a six-day period ending today. The event was held at the Dubai Modern High School. Ten schools will contest the final round in mid-June. The entire event will be telecast exclusively on e-masala, Channel # 600, available to all e-vision and eLife subscribers.

The festival was officially inaugurated by M.K. Lokesh, Indian Ambassador to the UAE.
