Hotline to combat human trafficking in UAE

Abu Dhabi/Dubai: A hotline has been created to receive complaints or queries relating to human trafficking across the UAE, a senior official announced on Tuesday.

Sarah Suhail, Executive Director of the Shelter Centre, said the hotline 8007283 will be available in six languages — Arabic, English, Urdu, Russian, Filipino and Bengali — and will be operational round-the-clock seven days a week.

Meanwhile, the conference on human trafficking and the role of the media, that concluded yesterday, called for transparency. Enhancing media coverage and training journalists to provide accurate information was set as an objective to fight this crime.
